The cost of doing nothing

One frozen morning can close your site

Untreated surfaces put staff, visitors and deliveries at risk - and leave you exposed on duty of care. Preventative gritting removes the guesswork.

Slip & trip claimsIce-related falls in car parks and on footpaths are a common source of injury claims against occupiers.
Duty of careOccupiers are expected to take reasonable steps to keep premises safe. A planned gritting record evidences due diligence.
Lost operating hoursBlocked access roads and loading bays stop deliveries, shifts and customer visits before the day even starts.

Why choose our gritting contractors

Four decades in amenity contracting, a national depot network, and technology that means we only turn out when your site actually needs it.

Met Office road-surface forecasting

We use OpenSite, a premium Met Office service built for the gritting industry, monitoring hyper-localised road surface temperatures rather than general air temperature.

GPS-tracked fleet

Every vehicle is tracked, so each visit is accountable and evidenced - you know exactly what was treated and when.

Duty-of-care records

Delivery reports after every application give you documentation that demonstrates due diligence and helps mitigate liability risk.

Overnight, before you open

Teams deploy in the evening and overnight, when your site is clear of parked cars - so surfaces are treated before the first shift arrives.

Premium white marine salt

More effective at lower temperatures than brown rock salt and leaves no dirty residue, so less grit is walked into your building.

Snow clearance & grit bins

Add snow clearance and the supply and refilling of grit bins to the same contract and the same point of contact.

How your gritting service works

Four steps from first call to a documented, forecast-driven winter plan.

  1. Site assessment

We walk your site, identify critical areas - roads, paths, entrances, loading bays, fire escapes - and agree the treatment plan and trigger temperature.

  2. Forecast monitoring

Your site is monitored daily against Met Office OpenSite road-surface forecasts through the season.

  3. Overnight application

When surface temperature is forecast at 0°C or below, local teams mobilise and treat your site overnight with white marine salt.

  4. Report & re-check

You receive a delivery report for the visit, and we keep monitoring in case conditions change and re-application is needed.

Two ways to buy

Pricing is set per site, based on the area treated and access. Both options are triggered by the same Met Office forecast - the difference is how you budget.

Gritting service FAQs

We use OpenSite, a premium Met Office forecasting service built for the gritting industry. Instead of general air temperatures we monitor hyper-localised road surface temperatures, and our team reviews the forecasts daily to mobilise rounds only when freezing is expected.

Gritting is primarily an overnight service, so your car parks, paths and roadways are ready for early morning activity. We maintain availability through the winter season to respond to changing conditions.

  • Pay As You Go: each month you're invoiced for the visits made, as dictated by the Met Office forecast.
  • Season Price: a fixed cost covering 1 November to 31 March, including unlimited applications as dictated by the forecast.

Premium white marine salt rather than brown rock salt. It is generally more effective at lower temperatures and leaves no dirty residue, which keeps internal floors cleaner.

We carry out a site assessment first. Applications typically cover roads, pathways, main entrances, loading bays and fire escapes, and the plan can be tailored to your site.

Yes. Alongside preventative gritting we offer snow clearance and the supply and refilling of grit bins for your site.
